Our Facilities
CRVA operates a 35,000 square foot storage and processing facility and a 6,000 square foot tech center in beautiful Tappahannock, Virginia. Some 35 trained technicians, laborers, and volunteers work Monday through Saturday sorting, refurbishing, and recycling surplus electronic equipment from the largest corporations in America in preparation for donation to individual citizens of the Commonwealth.
Receiving Area
We receive regular shipments of equipment to our warehouse from companies and organizations, community events, even individuals. Once everything is weighed, the systems, subsystems, and parts are sorted for potential donation, reuse, resale, or recycling. Nothing is simply discarded.

Tear Down Area
Computers are carefully deconstructed and individual components inventoried for possible use in new systems. Equipment that is no longer useful is de-manufactured in sub assemblies for recycling. Even empty computer cases can be recycled!

Hard Drive Wiping Stations
All hard drives are removed and erased to the Department of Defense 5220.22-M standard, as specified in the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM). We have adopted as our standard practice Virginia's policy for data removal. This policy is outlined in the Information Technology Resource Management Standard (PDF file, requires Adobe Acrobat Reader) from the Virginia Information Technologies Agency.

Build Area
Our technicians repair and refurbish any equipment that may still be of use either individually as a replacement in an existing computer setup, or as part of a new system. All items are extensively tested to ensure that they are operating properly before donation to Virginia public schools.
All acquired components are re-used or recycled in accordance with all Federal, State, and Local regulations. None of the equipment we process is sent to the landfill!
